Slow News Day

Human writing, published rarely and read with care

Join Slow News Day

Your first month is free, with everything a paying Member can do

The name you want to be known by. Members see it on what you publish and comment. We never check it.

We email you a code and a link to confirm it is yours. Other Members never see it.

We record everything you do on Slow News Day: each article you publish, read, mark or comment on, each Writer you follow, and each time you sign in or out. Each record holds your member ID (a random number), what you did, to what, and when. It does not hold your name or email address, which we keep apart from these records.

We use the records to run the site, for example to keep the Publishing Limit and the Mark Allowance, to build your Feed and to pay Writers. We also study them to learn how the site is used, so we can improve it.

We keep the records while you are a Member. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your name and email address, take your member ID off the records, round their times to the week, and replace links to your own articles with each article’s subject.

We run no advertising or third-party tracking scripts. The Human Check is run by Cloudflare Turnstile; Cloudflare also uses signals from it to improve its detection of programs.

Human Check

This confirms a person, not a program, is joining. It never asks who you are.

The button works once the Human Check is complete.
